starangel57(9:00:19PM):i totally called it

starangel57(9:18:17PM):game over.
starangel57(9:18:23PM):rockies win
starangel57(9:19:22PM):sac fly
starangel57(9:20:51PM):walk-off for the rockies

See??? I totally called it. But I really didn't expect them to go 0-0, 0-0, for several innings straight and then score 2-3 in the 13th, I just figured someone would score one and that be the end. What I way to end a one-game playoff. The Padres only went through 4 pitchers that night, while the Rockies basically expended their entire bullpen after their starter was pulled after 4... incredible. That last inning was crazy too. I expected that 2-run homerun to just be it. But here come the Rockies, battling back, with no outs, two doubles in a row, a triple, an intentional walk, and a sac fly to end it all.

I don't know what all the controversy is right now over Matt Holliday's slide or whatever, or even over a home run that was ruled a double or something like that, but what's done is done, the Rockies win, regardless.

So we've got Red Sox vs. Angels, Indians vs. Yankees, Cubs vs. Diamondbacks, and Phillies vs. Rockies. All the games start today, minus the Indians/Yankees, who have their first game tomorrow. Strange. But true. Should be an interesting battle, in all respects.

However, I do think this matchup makes little sense, to me at least. Think about it. Red Sox and Angels, the teams with the two best seasons, pretty much all season. Don't let the track records of this last week or so deceive you. Just because the Indians decided to pull out all the stops this last week or so doesn't mean they're better than the Angels. Look how the Angels played lately, for one. I haven't seen Cabrera, Guerrero, or Vlad in like, forever. And Matthews, who's sadly out for the post-season (which makes me want to cry, let me tell you...) have not played in a while. The last game we played in Oakland, we played every rookie/minor league guy possible, sans Figgins, Napoli, and Quinlan (not counting the pitchers). It was ridiculous. So obviously, we were saving up, not really worrying about winning games so much as resting guys who'd be playing post-season.

As I was saying, I don't think the matchups make sense for first round of play off. The Angels can take the Yankees, home, away, where ever. I don't care how much of a "roll" they were on in the second half, it's just a fact. The Angels take the Yankees. And I think the Angels split their series over the season with the Indians, so that's a little less of a deal. So why put the two hardest teams together for the first round? Winning this round will feel like a World Series win for either team, I think, because it's basically down hill after that.

Okay, so I'm putting little faith in the other teams playing, but it's true.

Anyway, We'll see how it goes today. I'm really pissed I won't get to watch, damn choral union rehearsal, and damn early game schedule. Hopefully I'll get to watch Friday, and hopefully someone will tape today's game for me so I can see. Now I just gotta get someone to send me frequent updates as I'm sitting there dying in rehearsal. I've contemplated taking my computer. Oh yeah, and setting it on the floor in front of me while I play. That's how crazy I am. I've even thought about skipping, but I can't for reasons that I don't care to go into right now, because it will make ZERO sense to anyone reading. Well, maybe.

So enjoy watching the game, you jerks that get to watch it. grrr I'm jealous.
