Game 1 was pretty difficult to watch, or listen to, which is what I was doing in the middle of rehearsal. Oh yes, you heard me, rehearsal. I wasn't letting some stupid Handel's Messiah rehearsal get in the way of my first post-season game. I went to Walmart and bought me a cheap 5 dollar AM/FM radio, and had it in my ear as I played. Now talk about dedication.
However, it did make my rehearsal quite painful. You could see the frustration on my face. I knew that home-run to Youkilis would start something, but I was kinda hoping the first inning for the Angels would spark something. Figgins got on and got to third, but no one could get him across. I heard Garret's eye looked nasty, too. Poor guy, pink-eye's not fun, I'm sure.
But nothing. Blank. That's what the scoreboard looked like. Beckett pitched probably the best complete game of his season.
But the good news? The Angels never win game one. But they have done damage in game two. Which is good. We just have to get to game four, I didn't stress about this coming week for nothing. I HAVE to go. Plus, I have a new jacket to wear, and I WANT to wear it to the game.
What's that mean? PLEASE win today. Split in Fenway, it'll be good momentum going home. Why? Because the Angels are good at home. Matsuzaka is a sinker ball pitcher. Fairly consistent speed. They like those kinds of pitchers. So I'm thinking once they've seen his pitches once through the lineup, they may be able to do some damage. The Angels really just need to start hitting. And more than three times the entire game. I don't care about home runs, I really don't. I know the team can do it without it. So we'll see how it goes tonight.
Just can't let game one break momentum and morale. This is a comeback team, an underdog team. So I'm not too worried. Just want to get to game four, ha! So tonight Escobar, do your thing.
Around the League:
Colorado has destroyed the Phillies twice. I'm kind of surprised, but it's interesting enough. I was expecting the Phillies to continue their momentum, but I guess Colorado's has been stronger. And the Yankees fell big time to the Indians. Wasn't really expecting that either, but oh well, ha! And the Cubs lost to the Diamondbacks, but I think the Cubs will come back from that one. I don't see them really losing this series, but stranger things have happened this season. I just really hope the Angels don't get swept like they did in 04. That would ruin EVERYTHING (ha)!
