NL UPDATE

Well first, a bit about the AL:

The post-season schedule, at least the first round, has been set. Boston will take on the Angels, and Cleveland will play the Yankees. Boston chose schedule B, meaning they will play their first two games at Fenway on October 3rd and 5th, and then will have game 3 in Anahiem on the 7th with possible game 4 on the 8th and game 5 back at Fenway on the 10th. Hopefully we'll get to game 4, because that is the one I have tickets to. And we better win that one too, I'm giving up class for that one.

That leaves the other series with schedule A, which will begin in Cleveland on the 4th and 5th of October, and will move to Yankee stadium on the 7th and 8th, with game five in Cleveland scheduled on the 10th.

Schedule A works out well for the Angels, giving their starters Lackey and Escobar staying on the typical rest days. The only thing that is ruined is my class. *sigh* oh well! Ha!

Ok, and now for the NL:

As of this moment, the Padres are looking to win with a 4-2 score against the Brewers in the bottom of the 5th. If they win, they can tie with Arizona for the NL West, which would then go to a one game playoff, considering that Arizona loses today's game against the Rockies (as of right now, it is no score in the bottom of the 2nd). However, as long as the Padres win today, they at least guarantee themselves the Wildcard and a spot in the post-season.

That does spoil some plans for a bunch of other teams, though. There was a potential four-way tie for the Wildcard, assuming the right teams won and the right teams lost today. However, As of this moment, the NL East has not yet been decided, with the Mets and the Phillies tied coming down to this last game. However, in the top of the 7th right now, the Mets are down 8-1 against the Marlins. The Glavinator gave up five hits, a throwing error, and a hit batter to walk in a run, giving the Marlins 7 runs in just the first inning. He was pulled, and they still trail 8-1. Not looking good for them. On the other side, the Phillies are currently 4-1 over the Nationals in the bottom of the 6th. Assuming the Mets lose and the Phillies hold on, the Phillies will go to the post season, with their first division win since 1993. And, since the Padres are currently winning, that leaves the Mets out of the post-season completely.

So we'll just have to see how it all pans out, and how the NL post-season gets set. It's going to be one really happy, or really disappointing day for some teams. But this definitely makes an intense last day of the regular season for anyone watching!
