SO FAR SO GOOD

I would have loved to watch today's game.  Unfortunately, I got to see the first half inning, and listened to the first four while driving along the 605 freeway on my way to a CPR training class that I had to take for the teaching credential program.  Lame.

However, I did get frequent updates from friends and family via text.

It's days like today that make me glad I drafted five Angels into my fantasy team.  Let's just say my numbers weren't all that bad today :) special thanks to Kotchman and Big Daddy, especially.

As of today's game, I'm impressed with Garland's eight inning, 1-run game.  They said he would be a pitching horse, going into long stretches, saving the bull pen.  He did his job, thoroughly.

And I'm sure that 2 run first inning before he even got t the mound helped boost his confidence.

Congrats to Napoli and Kotchman for hitting the first Angel home runs, and to Figgins as well for his first stolen base of the season.  I won't miss tomorrow's game, and I hope it's as good as today's.

And I'm still pretty impressed with O'Day, and that's carried over from Spring.

Let's just hope we don't meet up with anymore slow-pitch off-speed pitchers like Livan anytime within the first couple weeks - at least not until the batters get their timing rhythms are more solid.

Up Next: Joe Saunders.  I've always been impressed with this guy.  Since day one, actually.  I couldn't stand watching him go back and forth all season, would've pissed me off if I were him, especially with guys in the rotation playing about fifteen levels below you.  But that's just me.

.... and today I had a moment of sadness and remorse today.  When Matthews hit second in the lineup today, like normal these days, and got to first on his hit, I saw the 24 on his back.  And for a moment, I wanted nothing more than to see the 18.  And then I realized that Cabrera was really really gone, and not coming back, and I was sad.

He did get a hit his first at-bat, and stole a base immediately following, but not for me.  And I'll tell you, it freaking sucks.
