(sorry for such a late entry... the internet around here has been all effed up. but i'm back!)
...And we totally did. I really think we did give it to him. I mean, think about it. Magic number 8 or 9 or whatever the hell it is now, not an imperative win.
So I really think we could've probably just maybe a little bit given up that home run to Thome. You never know. I mean, seriously. Think about it. The guy hadn't gotten a single hit the entire 3-game series. At all. He was like, 0-13 or 0-14 or something ridiculous like that. And when does he get the hit? When the game is tied, in the bottom of the 9th. Off Moseley. Whose pitch looked wayyyyyyy too down the middle of the plate. Perfectly placed to let him just, you know, LIFT it easily out of the park.
I don't know. Too story book maybe.
So a friend sent me to this website called The Dugout. It's pretty much insane. And now there's even a Word Up Thome. Wow.
I thought this one was hilarious:

I love how everything Thome says, in all of the entries is CAPS. Hahaha like he's a crazed fool. Oh well.
ANYWAY, back to business. It's what, 13 games away now? I can't believe it. I've watched maybe all but two weeks worth of games this season, and not by my own doing. I blame it on UCO tour. Oh yeah. Don't ask. But I'm really excited about the post-season. I just wish somehow Boston would just lose like crazy now just so we have a chance at home field advantage. Only problem is now the freaking Indians are up there with us too. They need to start losing too. And we need to stop having problems with starting pitching. Colon AGAIN on Wednesday??? Can I seriously ask why???
I mean, look at him. The guy is so out of shape that it's effecting his pitching technique. You can see it in every pitch he throws. Yeah I know those few runs were on errors in the field. But even still, the guy really doesn't look good out there. He needs to go on some kind of regiment. He looks worse than Sabathia. And that's because Sabathia is 6'7 290 but proportionate. And he pitches like a machine. Big difference. Sabathia > Colon.
I don't know what the deal is with the Angels and crappy teams. We just can't get it done for some reason. I don't know what it is really. But I guess it won't matter in the post-season when they play nothing but amazing teams. So we'll see.
The NL is still completely up in the air. And both wildcards won't be called anytime soon. It'll be a last-game kind of thing I'm sure. The only one that's semi-called is the AL West, with the Angels' 8.5 game lead that hasn't been too compromised over the last few weeks. So I guess that's good for me, knowing I'll have a little bit more of my team to watch, at least.
I think once the post-season starts, I'll start separating my entries by games, or by series, I'm not quite sure yet. We'll see how I feel about it. And maybe I'll start making "educated" (oh yeah, because I'm SO educated in these matters! ha!) guesses about the MVP and stuff like that. But until then, enjoy:

Yeah the Angels main problem is figuring out who the 5th starter is going to be. Santana has proven his unworthiness (although he looked good coming out of the pen) and Colon is just plain sucking right now. They keep saying that there is nothing physically wrong with him. OK! I GET IT! HE IS FINE! BUT HOW COME HE STILL CAN'T PITCH WORTH A DAMN!!!??? Maybe we should give Moseley another shot.
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought Scott Shields was back but apparently he is still in his suck mode.
The Angels pitching is supposed to be top notch but it has been sucking lately. They need to fix that before the post-season begins or they are doomed to failure....especially if Cleveland surpasses us and we get the distinct pleasure of playing Boston in the first round.
I hate to be so negative but I do not like the way the Angels have been playing recently.
Thankfully for the playoffs we don't need a 5th starter, and in the division series we don't even have to have a 4th starter.
ReplyDeleteWith how Boston has been playing lately it may not be the worst thing to play them. If they are going to get hot for the playoffs then we would have to play them in the championship series anyway, so why not get it over with while they are playing poorly. Though they do still have a week to rebound it looks like they are on the way to losing the East.
