WOW. THE END.

Yeah. That was my reaction to the game today. When you have more errors than runs in a game, or as many errors in as many innings... not a good sign. So the off-day yesterday might not have been a good thing, but there really isn't a good excuse, or an excuse period, for today's playing.

Fell apart as soon as it started. When the Angels scored in the top of the first inning, I had high hopes. The lead off man was on, stole a base, and was advanced by some well-placed sacrifices. The moment Vlad was picked off at second, it all went downhill.

The first inning was pretty much the only inning anything happened today. They said the game was an hour and 55 minutes, but I think they over estimated it. How long was that first inning anyway?

Saunders was really roughed up in the first. He gave up four runs on four hits, and technically earned them, but I don't really think he earned them. At least not by himself. The defense played at a low today. It really didn't feel like a regular game today, with Willits not at lead-off or batting ninth and not playing left field, and with Cabrera getting the day off. Not to mention the look of Toronto's stadium, I don't know. I didn't really feel comfortable when it began. I can only imagine how they all felt.

So four hits in the first, four runs in the first, and four errors over the course of the game. Saunders really pulled it together though, kept a calm composure, and really dove into his own abilities to shutout the rest of his stint. Only problem is, Halladay was doing the exact same thing on his end. The rest of the game, inning two and on to the end, were a complete bore. Minus the really poor defensive plays - two on Aybar alone, one for a poor throw from Figgins, and another charged to Mathis for a dropped ball - The innings went with relative ease. Saunders did well, after that anyway. He's still 6-1...

It's not going to get any easier either. The next two starting pitchers for Toronto are also good. And with Moseley starting tomorrow, I'm a little worried. These next few series on the road are not going to be easy. And the Angels better hope that Seattle starts to cool off soon too, or the lead's going to be blown for the first time in over 100 consecutive games.

I hope that doesn't happen, It'll be a definite sad day for me. Nor will I hear the end of it from a few friends of mine from the Seattle area who seem to revel in my demise.

In Other News:

The Yankees got spanked today, 12-0 by the Orioles. That ends a streak. But hey, it happens to every one. Still only five games between them and Boston. Too bad for them Boston won tonight.

... Still waiting on Seattle....
